What you’ll see
Genting sits about an hour north of Kuala Lumpur, high enough that it is noticeably cooler than the city, bring a jacket.
The Awana SkyWay cable car carries you up over the rainforest to the resort level, where there is the outdoor theme park, the indoor arcades, the shopping mall and the casino floor.
Most people do this as a full day out of KL. We can also arrange an overnight at the hilltop hotels if you would rather not come down the same evening.
Ask for the Chin Swee Caves Temple stop on the way up, the cable car has its own station there and the view down the valley is the best on the hill.

Good to know
- Bring a jacket
- The resort sits high in the Titiwangsa range and is consistently cooler than Kuala Lumpur. Evenings can feel cold in the mist.
- Cable car
- The Awana SkyWay runs up from Awana with a mid-station at Chin Swee Caves Temple. It closes in lightning, so the road is the backup.
- Walking level
- Easy to moderate. The resort level is indoors and connected, but Chin Swee Caves Temple has steps and slopes.
- Weather
- Cloud and drizzle are normal at this altitude and views come and go. Theme park rides may pause in storms.
