BAT · 272 steps · Murugan temple
The gold Murugan statue, 272 painted steps and the limestone cathedral cave above, a working temple, half a day from KL.
Duration is a guide, tell us your dates and we will confirm it.
The gold Lord Murugan statue stands at the foot of the staircase, and the 272 painted steps behind it lead up into the limestone cathedral cave.
Inside the main cave there are shrines, natural skylights and, usually, a great many macaques, keep food out of sight and bags closed.
This is a working temple, so shoulders and knees need to be covered. Sarongs are available at the entrance if you arrive without one.
It is a half-day trip from Kuala Lumpur and pairs easily with a city tour in the morning or with Kuala Selangor for fireflies in the evening.
Ask for a quote
Tours are priced per group, not per head, so the fare depends on your dates, your numbers and the vehicle. Tell us those three and we will send a real figure.
Arriving or leaving?
Add a stop, drop one, stretch it to two days, or fold it into a longer itinerary. If you are travelling with elderly parents or small children, say so and we will cut the walking and add the air-conditioned stops.
Tell us what you need
Dates, headcount and where you want to go is enough to start. We come back with a real fare for those dates, or skip the form and just call in.
