What you’ll see
Port Dickson is the closest stretch of coast to Kuala Lumpur, which is why it fills up on weekends, about an hour and a half down the highway and you are on the Strait of Malacca.
Teluk Kemang is the busy public beach. Blue Lagoon and Tanjung Tuan are quieter, and Tanjung Tuan has the old Cape Rachado lighthouse with a short forest walk up to it.
The Army Museum and the ostrich farm are the two stops that keep children occupied if the sea is choppy or the tide is out.
We run this as a full day with hotel pickup, and we can add a seafood lunch at Pasir Panjang on the way back.

- Tides
- The Strait of Malacca is shallow here and the water pulls a long way out at low tide. Check the tide if swimming is the point of the trip.
- Which beach
- Teluk Kemang is the busy public beach. Blue Lagoon and Tanjung Tuan are quieter, with the Cape Rachado lighthouse walk at Tanjung Tuan.
- Weekends
- It is the closest coast to Kuala Lumpur, so weekends and school holidays are crowded. A weekday trip is a different place.
